Refund Policy
Refunds are assessed fairly for each service, based on the work already performed and the applicable agreement.
Note: This document is provided for general information and should be reviewed by qualified South African legal counsel before reliance.
1. How refunds are assessed
Refunds are assessed per service, taking into account the work already performed, costs already committed and the terms of the applicable agreement. Professional services use specialist time and often third-party costs from the start, so the sections below explain how each type of service is treated.
Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 where those Acts apply. Where your signed agreement contains different refund terms, the agreement applies.
2. Deposits
A deposit is refundable in full if you cancel before any work on your project has commenced, unless your agreement says otherwise. Once work has commenced, the deposit is applied to the work performed and committed costs, and any remaining balance is handled as described under cancelled projects below.
3. Website projects
Website projects are delivered and billed in milestones, such as discovery, design, development and launch. Payments for milestones that have been completed and accepted are not refundable. If a project is cancelled part-way through a milestone, the refund is assessed on a pro-rata basis for the work performed.
4. Software development
Web application and software projects are also milestone based. Completed and accepted milestones are not refundable. For a milestone in progress, we assess the work performed, licences and third-party costs committed, and refund any amount paid above that.
5. SEO retainers
SEO retainers can be cancelled by giving the notice period set out in your agreement. Fees for months that have been completed are not refundable, because the research, technical work, content and reporting for those months have been delivered. Fees paid in advance for months after the notice period ends will be refunded.
6. Managed sales services
Managed sales services can be cancelled by giving the notice period set out in your agreement. The campaign setup fee, and recruitment and setup costs, are non-refundable once they have been incurred, because they are spent before and during launch. Fees for completed service periods are not refundable; fees paid in advance for periods after the notice period ends will be refunded.
7. Digital services already delivered
Consulting, strategy, design files, reports, setup work, content and other digital deliverables that have been delivered and accepted are not refundable simply because plans change. If a deliverable does not meet the agreed scope, tell us and we will investigate and put it right.
8. Cancelled projects
If a project is cancelled, we calculate the work performed up to the cancellation date on a pro-rata basis, together with committed third-party costs. You pay for that work, and any amount you have paid above it is refunded. We will share a breakdown of the calculation with you.
9. How to request a refund
Email support@sciongrowthsolutions.com with your invoice number, the service concerned and the reason for your request. We may ask for more detail, and we will respond once we have reviewed your agreement and the work delivered.
Approved refunds are paid using the original payment method where possible, or by bank transfer. Processing times depend on banks and payment providers. See also our Terms and Conditions.
